Essex Energy Celebrates 60 Years in Italy; Achieves Record CTC Sales

November 22, 2023

Essex Energy, a leading manufacturer of copper winding wire for the energy industry, is proud to recognize the 60th anniversary of its facility in Quattordio, Italy.

The plant is also celebrating significant milestones in sales as it closed October with 1.100 metric tons of continuously transposed conductor (CTC) sold and 1.800 metric tons of copper winding wire sold, overall. Additionally, the location is on track to break its own record of 11.000 metric tons of CTC in a single year.

“Since our inception more than half a century ago, Essex Energy has been at the forefront of the industry, specializing in the production of CTC and bare profiles,” Roberto Salvaggio, Sales Director for Essex Energy said. “Our consistency in offering quality products is only matched by our longevity and stability in the market, thanks to this location.”

The history of Essex Energy dates back over 80 years, with its origins rooted in the period between the two World Wars. The brand was founded by two young entrepreneurs from Quattordio. Since that time, Essex Energy has grown due to its commitment to quality, reliability, and innovation.

The company has introduced several groundbreaking products in recent years, including Twin CTC, 60 Micron Insulation CTC, Silver Alloy CTC, Twin Giant CTC, and Aluminum Profiles for Submarine High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Cables. Each product represents a significant advancement in conductor technology and showcases the dedication to pushing boundaries of what is thought possible.

With customer needs driving innovation, the Essex Energy Research & Development teams are working to create solutions that prioritize connectivity, interoperability, and scalability while never sacrificing on dependability.

Essex Energy has had more recent success with the supply of Twin CTC and Copper Bare Profiles on the European Super Grid through ULTRANET and Viking Link projects. The remarkable accomplishments of those two projects—and numerous others on the horizon—have rapidly expanded development of the upcoming HVDC projects in Europe.

“Our Quattordio facility continues to be a hub of consistency, excellence, and innovation for advancing the future of CTC technology,” Salvaggio said.
